Good source of B complex vitamins: Whole rice or brown rice is a very good source of B complex vitamins. Each of these vitamins has an important role in the overall development of the baby including physical development and brain development.
High source of energy and easy to digest. Rice cereal is healthy food for babies. Instant rice cereals comes in handy when you are travelling or dont have much time to cook. I am sharing my MIL’s instant home made brown cereal recipe which can be made at home and stored at room temperature for up to 4 weeks.
Brown rice or white rice.
Clean rice and rinse it water 2-3 times to make sure there are no impurities in rice.
Strain all the water and let it dry in the strainer or you can spread it on cotton cloth for about 45 minutes.
Take a pan and keep on low medium heat.
Add rice and roast it on low flame.
Stirring every 2 minutes.
It will take about 7-8 minutes for rice to get toasty.
When rice is done it will release nice roasted aroma and when you touch it you will feel there is no water and it is dry,
Avoid burning rice so roast it on low flame.
Cool down rice completely and then grind to coarse powder as per your taste.
You can store this at room temperature in an airtight container.
Basic rice cereal cooking
1/4 cup water
2 spoons of instant rice cereal
Add 2 spoons of rice cereal and cook on medium heat until it is soft and cooked completely.
This will take about 3-4 minutes.
You can add vegetables and spices of your choice.
You can cook different flavours of rice cereal by adding different vegetables and fruits.
Ex: Carrot, Pumpkin, Banana, Apple, Dates, Pear, etc. Watch the above video for further details.
