Turmeric is the golden yellow spice used in Indian kitchen for cooking and beauty treatment. Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anticancer properties of turmeric make it worth to include in your diet.
Turmeric milk is an infusion of either dry turmeric powder or fresh turmeric root (rhizome) in milk.
Turmeric milk is an excellent tonic to improve your immune system against many diseases. A cup of turmeric milk in the morning or just before bedtime at night will build your immune system.
Turmeric helps to purify blood which helps to make your skin clean and remove skin issues related to impurities in blood.
A cup of warm turmeric milk can ease headaches whether it is due to sinus congestion or stress.
Anti-inflammatory effect of turmeric can ease arthritis pain, but if you don’t like then prepare turmeric milk with coconut milk or almond milk.
Drinking warm milk at bedtime is a well-known remedy for sleepless nights. Adding pinch of nutmeg powder will induce sleep.
1 cup Milk (whole Milk, Almond Milk, coconut milk, etc)
1 tsp turmeric powder or 1 medium size turmeric root
Cardamom 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon Stick or 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
2 strands of saffron
pinch of nutmeg
Sweeteners of your choice like sugar, honey, dates
Soak turmeric in water for 5-6 minutes and peel off the skin.
Grate the turmeric
Take 1 cup milk and keep on low medium heat.
Add Grated turmeric or 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
Add cinnamon stick or 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder .
You can also add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder, ginger powder(juice), saffron (optional)
Let it simmer on low medium heat for 5-6 minutes.
Add Sweeteners of your choice.
Banana is the power food and Dates good source of iron, Almonds will give added benefit of vitamin E. This milk shake is good during busy time and you dont have time to eat food. This will keep you feeling for a long time.
Soak almonds in water for 4-5 hours and remove skin.
Remove seeds from dates.
Cut banana roughly.
Add all the Ingredients to the blender and blend well.
If you want thicker version , add less milk.
You can also add few ice cubes. I used cold milk.
* You can add flax seeds to milk shake or smoothies. Flax seeds are good for skin, hair and eyes. They are store house of omega 3 fatty acids.
* If you are using almond milk then replace almond with walnuts.
Mango is the king of all fruits. Mango milk shake is served chilled during hot summer season. Mango with milk feels your tummy but still you would want more. The fresh smell of mango and fresh milk make it even more tempting.
Clean and peel off the mango skin.
Remove mango seed and chop mango roughly.
Add mango, milk, sugar, almonds and cardamom powder to the blender.
Blend it until puree.
You can add few ice cubes or ice-cream while blending if you like mango shake to creamy and rich.
Mango and vanilla ice creams are my favorites with mango shake.
Serve in glasses.
You can decorate glasses with fruits, dry fruits, saffron, ice cream, chocolate as per your choice.

Clean strawberries with water.
Remove green calyx and white part along with stalks. ^
Chop into pieces.
Add chopped strawberries, milk and sugar into the blender.
Blend for few seconds.
If you want thick and rich milk shake add some ice-cream to the blender.
Serve into glasses and garnish with fruits, chocolates and icecream
Mango Lassi is a popular traditional yogurt based drink from the Indiaa. Main ingredients in recipe are mangoes, yogurt. I have used dates in place of sugar.
This Mango lassi recipe is very quick and easy, I have used alphonso mango in this recipe.
How to make mango lassi
1. Peel and chop mangoes.
2. Soak few strands of saffron in water for 10 minutes.
3. Blend yogurt, mango, and dates, cardamom seed powder, saffron soaked in water and taste before adding more sugar. How much sugar is used depends on the sweetness of the mango and the yogurt.
4. If it is thick, add some water to desired consistency. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with dry fruits, ice cream and chocolate sauce. . Tips
Take ripe mangoes and yogurt should not be too sour. Use fresh yogurt
Adjust ingredient quantities depending on the sweetness of the mango and the sweetness and thickness of the yogurt.
Make sure mangoes are ripe and not fibrous.
Soak Fig/Anjeer and almonds in water for 3-4 hours.
Peel off the almond skin.
Add little bit of milk to anjeer/fig and almonds and make a smooth paste.
Add rest of the milk and blend it.
Fig has natural sugars but if you like you can add dates, honey or sugar as per taste.

Banana Berry Smoothie
Berry banana smoothie is healthy smoothie and can be made within few minutes. It is loaded with VItamin A, C, Iron, anti oxidants, etc.
4 strawberries 4 स्ट्रॉबेरी

Clean strawberries, blueberries and peel banana skin.
Remove green part from strawberry.
Add all the ingredients above to the blender.
Blend well and serve.
*If you are using almond milk then do not add almonds.
